What is Smart Connect and how do I enable or disable it on my D-Link router?
Smart Connect is enabled by default to allow your D-Link router to automatically assign connected devices to the Wi-Fi band that provides the fastest speed. Since connected devices are assigned to the most appropriate Wi-Fi band, Smart Connect can balance the load and reduce delays and interruptions. Depending on the router model that you have, Smart Connect can consolidate various combinations of 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands.
When Smart Connect is enabled, the router broadcasts one SSID. Yet you can configure different SSID names and passwords for each band separately from the AQUILA PRO AI app. Depending on the router model that you have, you may have to disable Wi-Fi Mesh before you turn off Smart Connect. To disable the Smart Connect feature, please go to the router’s management page > Wi-Fi settings, turn off Wi-Fi Mesh if the Smart Connect toggle greys out or is not found. Then you will be able to turn off Smart Connect and configure different SSIDs now.
